Personal Retreats

Personal retreats are self-guided and guests use the time as they desire, often bringing items for personal prayer, reflection, reading, journaling, etc. Our 56 acres of property include beautifully-manicured gardens and walkways, St. Clare Chapel, Stations of the Cross, Labyrinth, Dining Room and a refreshment lounge with complimentary coffee and tea.

Guestrooms have twin beds, a sink, and a desk. European-style restrooms in the hallways have private showers and toilets. Reservations can be made with meals or without. For more information about rooms and guest amenities, click here.

For prayer and meditation, retreat guests have exclusive access to the St. Clare Chapel. The Historic Mission Church is open to the public daily from 8am to 4pm. Daily mass is celebrated at 8am at Mission San Luis Rey Parish (Monday – Saturday) and at 12pm in the Historic Mission Church (Monday – Friday). Multiple weekend Masses are also offered.

For those who would like to talk with someone about their journey with God, Spiritual Direction is available by appointment. The suggested donation is $40-$60 per session and any special circumstances can be discussed directly with a director. For more information or to schedule an appointment call (760) 757-3659 or fill out an inquiry form.

The Retreat Center at Mission San Luis Rey offers single-day and overnight opportunities for individual personal retreats. Personal retreats and sponsored programs are open to adults 18 years and over.

9am – 4pm; includes private guestroom and lunch

Available most Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Online registration closes 2 days before each Quiet Day.

Private Retreats (overnight)

Overnight Private Retreats for individuals are generally offered throughout the year based on availability.

Reservations are required. We kindly ask that reservations for overnight Private Retreats be made over the phone with payment at least 2 days before anticipated arrival. We recommend contacting us sooner to allow time to check availability. To make a reservation please call (760) 757-3659.
