Our 56 acres of property include beautifully-manicured gardens and walkways, Labyrinth, Stations of the Cross walk, St. Clare Chapel, guestrooms and meeting spaces, Dining Room and a refreshment lounge with complimentary coffee and tea. Retreatants can enjoy the fragrant rose garden, a walk through the St. Francis Garden and numerous outdoor spaces for tranquility and reflection.

For prayer and meditation, retreat guests have exclusive access to the St. Clare Chapel. The Historic Mission Church is open to the public daily from 8am to 4pm. Daily mass is celebrated at 8am at Mission San Luis Rey Parish (Monday – Saturday) and at 12pm in the Historic Mission Church (Monday – Friday). Multiple weekend Masses are also offered.

Guest Rooms

Simple and comfortable overnight lodging is available for up to 110 guests. Each room typically has two twin beds, a sink and a desk. European-style restrooms in the hallway have private showers and toilets. Linens and towels are provided. Each room has individual controls for heat; air conditioning is not provided.

Meeting Rooms

We offer several different-sized meeting room options that can accommodate group sizes up to 120 people. Our staff ensures that your meeting space is set up to each group’s needs. Room arrangements that can be accommodated are:

• Theater Style – rows of chairs facing front of the room


• Circle – chairs set in a circle


• Conference Style – Chairs and rectangular tables set up in a block, or U-Shape


• Banquet Style – Chairs set around round tables


• Classroom Style – Chairs set at rectangular tables facing the front of the room

All meeting rooms include a whiteboard, podium and complimentary wifi. Audio visual equipment such as an LCD projector, laptop and PA system are available by request. Some meeting spaces also include a piano.

All room capacities are approximate and based on theatre-style seating. Use of the St. Clare Chapel is complimentary with your room rental (reservations required prior to your arrival).

Our professional staff is here to serve you and takes pride in continuing the Franciscan tradition of heritage and hospitality. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are freshly prepared in our Mission Kitchen and served buffet style in our Retreat Dining Room. Meals for individuals and smaller groups may be pre-plated. Outdoor and patio seating is also available for those wanting to enjoy dining al fresco.

Vegetarian meals are available upon request with advanced notice. We are unable to accommodate special dietary requests including but not limited to: vegan, dairy free, gluten free and allergies. Our kitchen is not an allergy certified kitchen. We encourage those with any dietary restrictions or allergies to bring their own food to supplement the provided meals.

Meals are served at 8am, 12pm, and 6pm.

Socials and coffee service can be served by advanced request in conference rooms for an additional cost.

Our O’Keefe Lounge is centrally located on the grounds and offers a place to rest during your stay, along with complimentary coffee and tea. A refrigerator and microwave are available in the lounge for those who wish to bring personal food items. (open 24 hours).
