The Marketing and Fund Development Office is Responsible for the Fund Raising efforts of the Mission.
Welcome to the Marketing and Fund Development Office at Mission San Luis Rey. Additional funding is needed to offset operating costs, restoration and preservation projects, and provide cultural, educational, historical and spiritual programs to the community. We are seeking alternative partnerships to fund these ongoing projects through private foundations, corporations, individuals and our fund-raising events.
As you may imagine, operating and maintaining this historic site is costly. Mission San Luis Rey is registered as a National Historic Landmark, yet we do not receive any funding from the San Diego County Diocese, state or federal government. Renovations to the buildings and property for modern safety standards (seismic retrofitting) and the preservation of the structures require considerable funding...much more than the revenue generated from our Museum tours or the Retreat Center and Cemetery. We are entirely dependent upon generous donors, major fundraising events and grants.
